Its no news that the FRSC speed limiters scheme has been heavily criticized since the Federal Road safety commission brokered their plans to the public in 2015. Most people thought it would not see the light of the day but as days passes by, The scheme gained more publicity and endorsement from reputable organizations in Nigeria.
One of such Endorsement is the support from the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) Nigeria and From Lagos state government. NURTW who is the leading organization of Transport workers urged their member to embrace the scheme as it will help alleviate the excessive auto accidents usually experienced by the union annually. Though their President in the person of Mr. ThankGod Eribo pleaded with the Road safety commission to help reduce the price and also extend the implementation date but the commission refuted their plea.
The governor through his Special Assistant on Transportation, Prince Anofiu Elegushi stated that The Lagos state government is fully in support of the successful implementation of speed limiters in lagos and to this end will help sensitizing lagosians to support the scheme wholeheartedly, putting behind every sentiments as the scheme is here to safeguard Nigeria Road Users.
“He gave assurances that the Lagos State Government remains committed to the introduction and effective implementation of the speed limiting device as a control mechanism against speed violation and resultant road crashes.
